MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641026524 A) filed by Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 6, for 'dynamic wireless electric vehicle charging system with integration of square coils and solar energy.'

Inventor(s) include Kanish K M; Pavithran M; Sanjaykumar B; Kaarthic V S; Santhiya S; and Dr. G. Tony Santhosh.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has created a growing demand for faster and more convenient charging solutions. Traditional plug-in charging requires vehicles to remain stationary for long periods, leading to delays and range anxiety. Our project proposes a dynamic wireless charging roadway system that enables EVs to charge while moving. The system uses transmitter coils embedded beneath the road and receiver coils mounted under the vehicle to transfer power wirelessly through magnetic resonance technology, eliminating physical connectors and improving safety. To enhance efficiency, square-shaped coils are used to achieve better magnetic coupling and alignment tolerance compared to circular coils, ensuring stable charging even with vehicle movement. The system supports both stationary and in-motion charging, helping extend driving range and reduce battery size requirements. A built-in defrost and anti- icing feature ensures reliable operation in cold weather conditions. Solar energy integration further supports sustainable operation. Overall, the project offers a practical, scalable, and user-friendly EV charging infrastructure solution."
