MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641019322 A) filed by Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute Of Technology; Uppara Raghu Babu; T Chinna Venkata Reddy; D Lakshmi Shireesha; and T A Swathi, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on Feb. 19, for 'eclipta prostrata (bhringraj) leaf extract as a green corrosion inhibitor for reinforcing steel embedded in concrete.'

Inventor(s) include Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute Technology; Uppara Raghu Babu; T Chinna Venkata Reddy; D Lakshmi Shireesha; and T A Swathi.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a green corrosion inhibitor derived from Eclipta prostrata leaf extract for protecting reinforcing steel embedded in concrete. The extract contains bioactive phytochemicals which adsorb onto steel surface forming a protective film. The inhibitor significantly reduces corrosion rate, improves durability, and enhances mechanical properties of concrete. The invention provides an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to synthetic corrosion inhibitors."
