According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an eco-friendly modular footwear system (100) having concealed strap-locking and interchangeable design configurations. The system comprises a base sole (101) including an insole layer (101a), a midsole layer (101b), and an outsole layer (101c), wherein concealed locking grooves (102) are formed within the base sole (101) at a toe region (104), a mid-foot region (105), and a heel region (106). Each concealed locking groove (102) houses a concealed locking connector (103) selected from T-shaped, L-shaped, or P-shaped groove configurations (103a), male-female connectors (103b), snap-fit or twist-lock connectors (103c), magnetic-assisted connectors (103d), or combinations thereof. Interchangeable straps (107) having strap end portions (108) are removably engageable with the concealed locking connectors (103) to form a wearable configuration while maintaining a concealed external appearance. The base sole (101) is configurable as a flat base sole or a heeled base sole formed as a single integrally moulded unit. In an optional embodiment, the interchangeable strap (107) is configured as a smart strap embodiment (112) embedded within the strap. The modular footwear system enables interchangeable strap configurations using a common base sole architecture."
