According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Effects of drug abuse on mental health Abuse of drugs has emerged as a major public health concern on a global scale, having a significant impact on the psychological, emotional, and social well-being of individuals. Inappropriate use of substances like alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabis, and synthetic drugs can cause changes in the chemical composition of the brain and disrupt the normal functioning of the cognitive system. These shifts have the potential to bring about a wide variety of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, mood instability, and behavioural disorders. The current study investigates the effects of substance abuse on mental health by analysing the neurological, psychological, and behavioural consequences that are associated with substance abuse over an extended period of time using substances. The purpose of this study is to investigate the ways in which drug dependency affects ability to regulate emotions, ability to make decisions, memory function, and social relationships. In addition to this, it examines the relationship between substance abuse and pre-existing mental health conditions, bringing attention to the concept of dual diagnosis. In addition to this, the research suggests a comprehensive framework for assessing the impact of mental health, which incorporates psychological evaluation, behavioural monitoring, and rehabilitation strategies. The findings highlight the significance of early intervention, preventive education, and integrated treatment approaches as means of mitigating the negative effects of substance abuse on mental health."
