MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521027492 A) filed by Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on March 25, for 'electree: a solar based electricity generation system integrated into a tree-like structure.'

Inventor(s) include Manthan Sharma; Deven Mistry; Meet Gadani; Manish Mangaliya; Yogini Modi; and Rozina Rajesh Surani.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Electree merges high-efficiency photovoltaic technology with biomimetic design, mimicking a tree's form to optimize solar energy capture from multiple angles. Its leaf-like solar panels enhance absorption while integrating passive solar tracking for improved efficiency without complex mechanics. An embedded energy storage system retains excess power, ensuring reliable off-grid functionality. The modular, scalable structure allows deployment in urban, residential, and commercial settings for diverse applications, including lighting, charging stations, and environmental sensors. Beyond functionality, the Electree enhances aesthetic and ecological value, blending seamlessly into public and private spaces. This innovative solution offers a sustainable, visually appealing alternative to conventional solar installations, promoting broader adoption of renewable energy."
