MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056899 A) filed by Utility Global, Inc., Houston, on June 13, for 'electrochemical co-production of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.'

Inventor(s) include Dawson, Matthew; Farandos, Nicholas; and Dawson, Jin.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Herein discussed is a method of co-producing carbon monoxide and hydrogen comprising: (a) providing an electrochemical reactor having an anode, a cathode, and a mixed-conducting membrane between the anode and the cathode; (b) introducing a first stream to the anode, wherein the first stream comprises a fuel; (c) introducing a second stream to the cathode, wherein the second stream comprises carbon dioxide and water, wherein carbon monoxide is generated from carbon dioxide electrochemically and hydrogen is generated from water electrochemically. In an embodiment, the anode and the cathode are separated by the membrane and are both exposed to reducing environments during the entire time of operation."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 10, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/076424.
