MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517066003 A) filed by Office National D'Etudes Et De Recherches Aerospatiales, Palaiseau, France, on July 10, for 'electron cyclotron resonance thruster.'

Inventor(s) include Desangles, Victor; Packan, Denis; Peterschmitt, Simon; Jarrige, Julien; and Elias, Paul-Quentin.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a satellite thruster (10) that employs electron cyclotron resonance and a magnetic nozzle, that extends at least partially along a longitudinal axis (X), and that comprises an external conductor (22) and an ionisation chamber (8), the external conductor and the ionisation chamber extending longitudinally along this axis, the external conductor bounding the ionisation chamber transversely, and the ionisation chamber comprising a circular transverse aperture (24) having a diameter D, characterized in that it further comprises a screen (6) coaxial with the longitudinal axis (X), having a maximum transverse dimension D' such that the ratio of D' divided by D is between 3 and 15, said screen (6) comprising a portion made of dielectric material (61) and/or a portion made of electrically conductive material (62)."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 21, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/087459.
