MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056225 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on June 11, for 'electronic device and method for performing modulation compression of data transmitted via user plane messages in fronthaul interface.'
Inventor(s) include Lim, Hyoungjin; Shim, Seijoon; Oh, Jongho; and Bang, Hyeri.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "According to one embodiment, a method performed by a distributed unit (DU) comprises an operation of generating modulation values corresponding to information bits on the basis of a modulation compression technique. The method includes an operation of generating user plane (U-plane) data corresponding to the modulation values on the basis of a shifting operation corresponding to the modulation compression technique. The method comprises an operation of transmitting a U-plane message including the generated U-plane data to a radio unit (RU) through a fronthaul interface. The modulation compression technique is set to perform the shifting operation on the basis of a specified first equation for binary phase shift keying (BPSK), and to perform the shifting operation on the basis of a specified second equation for modulation techniques other than BPSK."
The patent application was internationally filed on Sept. 25, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/014715.
