MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517053733 A) filed by Google Llc, Mountain View, U.S.A., on June 3, for 'enabling large language model-based spoken language understanding (slu) systems to leverage both audio data and tetxual data in processing spoken utterances.'

Inventor(s) include Shabat, Nir; Polosukhin, Volodymyr; Fruchter, Shlomo; Pundak, Golan; and Atsmon, Roy.

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In various implementations, a method implemented by one or more processors of a computing device can comprise receiving audio data that captures a spoken utterance of a user; processing the audio data using an automatic speech recognition (ASR) model to generate textual data corresponding to the spoken utterance; generating a semantic representation corresponding to the spoken utterance of the user based on applying both the audio data and the textual data as input across a large language model (LLM); and causing the semantic representation corresponding to the spoken utterance of the user to be utilized in fulfilling the spoken utterance."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 15, 2022, under International application No.PCT/US2022/053054.
