MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049523 A) filed by B Jyothi, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on April 17, for 'ev highway energy consumption prediction using road and traffic context.'

Inventor(s) include B. Jyothi; V. Raaga Praneetha; P. Bhavana; Y. Aasritha Lakshmi; S. Venkata Naga Sravya; and D. Lalithya.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Electric vehicles (EVs) have become an essential component in today's world of modern transportation due to their huge environmental and economic benefits. However, predicting the energy consumption of EVs, especially on highways, where the charging stations are irregularly available, remains a challenge because of constantly changing roads and traffic conditions from place to place and time to time. This study proposes a context-aware energy prediction framework for estimation of energy consumption of EV by considering various influencing dynamic parameters such as road gradient, speed of the vehicle, traffic flow, driver's behavior along with environmental conditions. The system employs machine learning techniques such as Random Forest Regression, Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), to analyze real-time data gathered from sensors. By integrating contextual data with vehicle dynamics, the proposed execution model provides more thorough predictions compared to traditional static estimation methods, which failed to consider dynamic parameters to estimate energy consumption. This sustainable and energy-efficient approach helps improve route planning, battery management, and charging station allocation for sustainable electric mobility and reduces range anxiety in drivers."
