MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050359 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Ramapuram Campus; and Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 20, for 'event driven edge ai based disaster rescue system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Padmavathi B; Pooja Sree H; Nithish S; M S Hariharran; and Jayanthan B S.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The presented work relates to a distributed survivor detection system. Each node comprises an ESP32 microcontroller, an INMP441 digital microphone, and a power source, which allows local sound sensing and Edge AI based processing. The node applies Edge AI based inference to identify probable human distress signals. Upon detection, it transmits short alert messages to neighboring nodes or a receiver wirelessly. By sharing the decision-making tasks and sensing among multiple nodes, the reliability of the system is improved and the single-point failure risk is reduced."
