The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a facial recognition-based attendance system that automates attendance tracking in a secure, contactless, and real-time manner. The system captures live images or video streams through a camera module and processes them locally on an Edge AI device using deep learning algorithms for face detection and recognition. It incorporates robust liveness detection, including blink recognition, head movement tracking, and optional infrared or depth-based verification, to prevent spoofing attempts. The system supports mask-resilient recognition to accurately identify individuals wearing face coverings. Upon successful verification, attendance records, including timestamp, user identity, and location, are securely stored in a local or cloud-based database. A graphical user interface provides real-time dashboards, analytics, and reporting functionalities. The invention is scalable, modular, and deployable across educational institutions, corporate offices, healthcare facilities, government programs, and event management, offering a hygienic, fraud-resistant, and efficient solution for automated attendance management."
