MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122127 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'federated knowledge distillation system for healthcare prediction.'
Inventor(s) include Sathiya Kumar C; Ms. Anika Roy; and Ms, Srinithi Shabad.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a federated knowledge distillation system for healthcare prediction. The system includes client nodes configured to store healthcare data locally and train local machine learning models on the healthcare data to generate soft predictions. The system includes a central server configured to receive soft predictions from client nodes without receiving healthcare data, aggregate the soft predictions, and train a global model using aggregated soft predictions through knowledge distillation. The system includes a communication interface configured to transmit soft predictions from each client node to the central server. Each client node employs different machine learning algorithms selected from logistic regression, random forest, and gradient boosting algorithms. The central server performs updates aggregation using a customized federated learning framework in a global model neural network."
