MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517057828 A) filed by BP P. L. C., London, on June 16, for 'fischer-tropsch catalyst passivation and activation.'

Inventor(s) include Paterson, Alexander James; and Peacock, Mark I.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates generally to compositions and processes for producing Fischer-Tropsch catalysts. In particular, the application concerns a process for preparing a catalyst material for use in a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactor, comprising providing a first catalyst material comprising cobalt disposed on a support; contacting the first catalyst material with a first reducing agent at a first temperature and a first pressure to form a reduced catalyst material; then contacting the reduced catalyst material with carbon monoxide, thereby forming a passivated catalyst material comprising cobalt carbide."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 01, 2023, under International application No.PCT/IB2023/062132.
