According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Flash Flood Breaker is a set of unbridged staggered columns which are placed 250m to 500 m upstream in locations where flash floods are expected to generate without adequate notice for taking precautions . During the floods of Jammu and Kashmir on 06 September 2014 the spiralling water washed away a number of Bailey bridges which are primarily costly equipment . A flash flood breaker can be made with stone monoliths in such a manner that while the damming effect is in place, the gaps between rock masonry permit the pondage of water to leak or trickle away."
