MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085338 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'formulation of a quasi-solid state polymer electrolyte and sodium metal batteries thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Vipin Kumar; and Vineeth S. K.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a quasi-solid state polymer electrolyte comprising a polymer blend of Poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) and a triblock copolymer of Poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(propylene glycol)-poly(ethylene glycol) and a liquid electrolyte selected from the group consisting of Sodium perchlorate, Ethylene Carbonate, Dimethyl Carbonate, and Fluoroethylene Carbonate or a combination thereof. Sodium metal battery with the as-synthesized QSSPE, runs for 600 cycles at 0.5 C rate with high Coulombic efficiency and good capacity retention and also exhibits a stable cycle-life of 200 at 0.1 C is demonstrated with sodium metal battery along with being highly reproducible, roll to roll processible, safe, and scalable approach for sodium metal battery system."
