MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067907 A) filed by Gelteq Limited, Caulfield, Australia, on July 16, for 'formulations and methods for delivering dietary and pharmaceutical ingredients.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a base gel formulation into which nutritional or pharmaceutical ingredients can be incorporated. The base formulation has been designed for people who are dysphagic. The base formulation comprises three different gelling agents, the amounts of which are varied, such that the formulated gel conforms with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDS) 2019, being characterises as a type 1 to type 4 product. It comprises, as a primary gelling agent, an alginate, which is cross linked by way of divalent cations to provide it's structural integrity and the gelling properties are further modified by the inclusion of a secondary and tertiary gelling agent, respectively a low methoxy pectin and an agar. The gel comprises significant amounts of water (hence the type 1 to 4 products are classified as drinks), although the class 3 and 4 products may also be classed as foods. The gels also comprise a pH modifying agent and a preservative, and may additionally comprise a flavouring."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 22, 2023, under International application No.PCT/IB2023/063180.
