MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010713 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'four-wheeler vehicle boarding and de-boarding assistive device for physically disabled.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A four-wheeler vehicle boarding and de-boarding assistive device for physically disabled, comprising a first platform 1 adhered over floor portion of a four-wheeler vehicle via multiple suction cups 2, computing unit accessed by user for giving input commands for deploying second platform 3, microcontroller processes input commands and actuates hinge 4 for tilting and deploying second platform 3 in contact with a ground surface, a camera 5 detecting presence of user on second platform 3, a suction unit paired with suction cups 2 actuated by microcontroller for generating a vacuum pressure underneath suction cups 2 for appropriately adhering first platform 1 on floor portion of vehicle to prevent undesired motion, a pair of C-shaped motorized clamps 6 configured with second platform 3 via a pair of motorized sliders 7 actuated by microcontroller for translating clamps 6 towards first platform 1/ground surface in view of aiding user in boarding/de-boarding."
