MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517054067 A) filed by Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Limited; and Bioseeds Corporation, Tokyo, on June 4, for 'gel electrophoresis device.'

Inventor(s) include Kunikata Ryota; Suda Atsushi; Biyani Manish; Uno Munenori; and Biyani Radhika.

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In a gel electrophoresis device 10, a gel cassette 12 can be mounted on a base 14. The gel cassette 12 has a predetermined thickness at locations respectively corresponding to a first connection region 1231 and a second connection region 1233. A first electrode 22 and a second electrode 24 are provided in a maintenance unit 16. The base 14 has a first opposed portion 141 and a second opposed portion 143 respectively corresponding to the first electrode 22 and the second electrode 24. In a non-mounted state, the first electrode 22 and the second electrode 24 are respectively opposed to the first opposed portion 141 and the second opposed portion 143, and are separated by a predetermined distance or less. The dimension of the predetermined distance is smaller than the dimension of the predetermined thickness. In a mounted state, the first electrode 22 and the second electrode 24 directly press the first connection region 1231 and the second connection region 1233. The gel electrophoresis device 10 can appropriately perform electrophoresis without using an additional buffer."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 07, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/040080.
