MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517044558 A) filed by Cpc Corporation, Tokyo, on May 8, for 'gene introduction method gene therapy method and tissue regeneration method.'
Inventor(s) include Kurita Masakazu.
The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem] The present invention addresses the following to be solved problems: there are no gene introduction methods that have a high gene introduction efficiency and high specificity for skin subcutaneous tissues skin ulcer surfaces and component cells thereof; more generally it is difficult to achieve a high gene introduction efficiency for gene introduction into a living body; it is difficult to morphologically or functionally regenerate a skin appendage; and if the peripheral tissue (upper arm forearm hand finger thigh lower leg foot toe) etc. of an upper limb or a lower limb is lost it is difficult to regenerate the same. [Solution] The present invention provides a method for solving the abovementioned problems by using: a novel AAV (AAV is an abbreviation for adeno associated virus) capsid that has a high gene introduction efficiency and high specificity for the cells of skin subcutaneous tissues and skin ulcer surfaces; a novel AAV capsid that has a high gene introduction efficiency and high specificity for epidermal tissues and a keratinocyte that constitutes component cells of the epidermal tissues; a novel tissue specific promotor that has high gene expression and high specificity for epidermal tissues and a keratinocyte that constitutes component cells of the epidermal tissues; a medicament where the gene introduction efficiency is enhanced by using a steroid in parallel with introduction of a gene into a living body; a medicament for achieving with respect to a state in which cutaneous appendage functions are lowered sufficient cutaneous appendage functions by inducing regeneration new formation or functional enhancement of a cutaneous appendage through introduction of gene into a living body; a research and development platform for developing methods for regenerating peripheral tissues or lost tissues of the upper limbs or the lower limbs; and a medicament for regeneration."
The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 11, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/036900.
