MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517095059 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Oct. 3, for 'grain-oriented electrical steel sheet and method for forming insulating coating film.'

Inventor(s) include Takeda Kazutoshi; Takatani Shinsuke; Kataoka Takashi; and Kogakura Yuuki.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This grain-oriented electrical steel sheet has a base steel sheet and an insulating coating film that is formed on the surface of the base steel sheet. The insulating coating film has: an intermediate layer that is formed on the base steel sheet side and contains a crystalline metal phosphate salt; and a tension coating layer that is formed on the surface side of the insulating coating film. In a cross-section of the intermediate layer along the thickness direction, when the interface between the base steel sheet and the intermediate layer is observed at a magnification of 5,000 times with a scanning electronic microscope, the ratio of the interface length L to the observation image width W is 100.0% to 120.0%."

The patent application was internationally filed on Apr. 12, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/014841.
