MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012896 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'hand-held hole drilling device for wooden workpieces.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept.12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hand-held hole drilling device for wooden workpieces, comprises of a U-shaped frame 1 held by a user and accessed by user to place a wooden workpiece, a handle 2 for providing grip to user while holding frame 1, an imaging unit 3 for capturing images of workpiece, a display panel 4 for enabling user to input details, a motorized slider 5 provides movement to a cuboidal block 6 to clamp workpiece, a motorized hinge joint for tilting a cylindrical shaped member 7 at an optimum angle, an angle sensor for detecting tilting of member 7 at optimum angle, a first robotic link 8 for positioning a drilling unit 9 inside member 7 followed by actuation of drilling unit 9 to drill holes on workpiece, a laser sensor for detecting any irregularities of workpiece and a motorized cutting unit 10 for cutting workpiece in order to eliminate irregularities."
