MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088043 A) filed by Hero Motocorp Limited, New Delhi, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'health monitoring system for catalytic converter.'

Inventor(s) include Kumar, Alok; and Goyal, Vishnu Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (500, 600) for monitoring health status of a catalytic converter of a vehicle (100) is described. The method (500, 600) includes receiving (502, 602) a first voltage signal ?(V?_P) from a first oxygen sensor and receiving (504, 604) a second voltage signal ?(V?_S) from a second oxygen sensor. The method further includes determining (506, 610) a count of cycles of the first voltage signal ?(V?_P) received from the first oxygen sensor (134) elapsed in a time period (T). The count of cycles being indicative of a count of inversions in the first voltage signal ?(V?_P). The method further includes measuring (508, 714) a time period (T) taken to reach the count of inversions to the predefined number of inversions. The method further includes calculating (510, 616) an efficiency of the catalytic converter when the count of inversions in the first voltage signal ?(V?_P) becomes equal to a predefined number of inversions."
