MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050483 A) filed by Dayananda Sagar College Of Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, on April 21, for 'helmet integrated overspeed indication system for two wheelers.'
Inventor(s) include Dr P B Savitha; and Ranjith Kumar Dasari.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a helmet system for two-wheeler rider safety, specifically featuring integrated over speed indication. The system comprises a Bluetooth enabled microcontroller-controlled helmet unit integrated with LED indicators. It is configured to wirelessly connect with an external mobile device, such as a smartphone, to receive real-time speed data. The helmet's microcontroller compares this speed data against predefined thresholds and activates the integrated LED indicators to provide a visual overspeed alert to the rider when the speed limit is exceeded. The invention aims to enhance rider awareness of their speed in a non-distracting manner, thereby contributing to increased road safety."
