MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517036887 A) filed by Alpinestars Research S. P. A., Maser, Italy, on April 16, for 'helmet shield attaching mechanism and protective helmet comprising such a shield attaching mechanism.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a helmet shield attaching mechanism (10) comprising a shield attaching base member (12) and a shield (14). The shield attaching base member (12) comprises a stationary base member (18), designed to be fastened to the shell (2), and a movable base member (20), coupled to the stationary base member (18) and to the shield (14). According to the invention the shield attaching base member (12) further comprises an actuating base member (22) pivotally connected to the stationary base member (18) so that the actuating base member (22) is adapted to rotate along a curved path and to abut against the movable base member (20), thereby moving the movable base member (20) with respect to the stationary base member (18) during a rotation of the shield (14). The invention also relates to a protective helmet (1) comprising such a shield attaching mechanism (10)."
