MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521058546 A) filed by Bhagyashree S. Parande; Dr. S. N. Dhole; Kalika Patil; Pallavi Khule; Aishwarya Reddy; Shraddha Biradar; Vaishnavi Mali; and Chaitali C. Dongaonkar, Pune, Maharashtra, on June 18, for 'herbal dentifrice formulation comprising vetiveria zizanioides extract for oral care.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the field of oral hygiene and pharmaceutical/cosmetic formulations, more specifically to the development of a herbal dentifrice (toothpaste). It focuses on a natural toothpaste composition formulated using Vetiveria zizanioides (Khus) root extract and other herbal components for the purpose of maintaining oral health. The invention also pertains to plant-based surfactant systems, particularly the use of Decyl glucoside as a mild and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic surfactants such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). The invention is applicable in the areas of dentistry, oral care product development, and herbal medicine, and offers a safe, non-toxic, and effective alternative for daily dental hygiene."
