MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514034113 A) filed by Distance Technologies Oy, Helsinki, on April 7, for 'high efficiency backlight for multiscopic display.'

Inventor(s) include Urho Konttori; Petri Savolainen; Mikko Strandborg; and Mikko Juhola.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A backlight unit (100, 202, 404) for a liquid crystal display device (200, 302, 402) is disclosed. The backlight unit comprises an array of light-emitting elements (102a-c) and a plurality of cavity reflectors (104a-c), wherein a given cavity reflector partially surrounds a corresponding light-emitting element of said array. The backlight unit further comprises a collimator (106) arranged on an optical path of the array of light-emitting elements, a first drive circuit that is employed to individually control the light-emitting elements of said array, and a controller. The controller is configured to generate or receive drive signals for controlling the light-emitting elements of said array, and send the drive signals to the first drive circuit."
