MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060918 A) filed by Dr. Jagadeesha T; and Ms. Asmita R. Mali, Kozhikode, Kerala, on June 25, for 'high-viscosity, field-responsive mr fluid compositions using plant-derived oils and additives.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Jagadeesha T; Ms. Asmita R. Mali; Dr. S. M. Khot; Dr. Vishal Ganpatrao Salunkhe; Vishvaa J; and Minhajudeen.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure proposes a magnetorheological (MR) fluid formulation that is stable, responsive, and also cost-effective, biodegradable, and scalable for real-world industrial integration. The MR fluid is cost-effective than commercially available counterparts. The MR fluid exhibits strong and tunable magnetorheological behavior, with viscosity increasing proportionally with current, for excellent field-induced structuring of magnetic particles. The MR fluid exhibits high stiffness control under magnetic actuation. The MR fluid extends fluid usability and reduces the need for frequent agitation or maintenance. The MR fluid incorporates non-edible, biodegradable seed oils, reducing the environmental impact compared to synthetic, petroleum-based carrier fluids. The MR fluid with highest viscosity, strongest shear stress response, and superior sedimentation resistance."
