MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527049506 A) filed by Totalenergies Onetech; and College De France, Courbevoie, France, on May 22, for 'highly efficient copper nitride bimetallic catalysts for electrochemical reduction of one or more carbon oxides to n-propanol and/or ethanol.'

Inventor(s) include Schreiber, Moritz Wilhelm; Duong, Hong-Phong; Tran, Ngoc Huan; and Fontecave, Marc.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure relates to a catalyst suitable for electrochemical reduction reactions of one or more carbon oxides, comprising a nitride-doped multi-metallic material comprising a primary metal being copper and one or more secondary metals selected from silver, gold, platinum, palladium, ruthenium, iridium, osmium, and any mixture thereof, wherein the nitride-doped multi-metallic material comprises, as determined by XRD, copper, copper nitride and copper- Me alloy wherein Me is one of the secondary metals and to a gas diffusion electrode suitable for electrolysis of one or more carbon oxides comprising such a catalyst."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 24, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/079651.
