MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431006386 A) filed by Jamipol Limited, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'hot metal desulphurization reagent, process of preparation and applications thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Hot metal desulphurization reagent, process of preparation and applications thereof The present disclosure provides a composition comprising a desulfurization reagent comprising CaSi, which reduces or partially replaces the amount of conventionally used calcium carbide. The present disclosure also provides a safe and non-hazardous composition with similar DS efficiency as compared to the conventionally used carbide-based reagents, which when employed for desulphurization of hot metal results is large reduction of carbon emissions."
