MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511127727 A) filed by Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana, on Dec. 16, 2025, for 'hybrid electric bicycle with adaptive power assistance.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Neha Chaudhary; Dr. Pronika Chawala; Swasti Ranjan Panda; Abhishek Yadav; Sumit Pratap Singh; Adesh Singh; and Dipanshu.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hybrid electric bicycle with adaptive power assistance, comprising a frame 101, a front and rear wheel 102, 103, a handlebar 104 for steering, a saddle, a pair of pedals 105 coupled with a crank set 106, and a belt drive 107 connecting the crank set 106 to the rear wheel, a brushless DC motor 108 directly driving the crankshaft via a reduction gearbox, an electromagnetic clutch 109 to engage or disengage motor assistance, a terrain detection module 110 to predict gradient changes, and detect road surface conditions in real-time, a regenerative braking unit 111 to convert kinetic energy generated during braking or downhill riding into electrical energy that is stored in a built-in battery pack 112, an adaptive battery management unit integrated with the battery to monitor cell voltages, temperatures, state-of-charge, regenerative braking energy capture, and optimize energy distribution for journey completion."
