MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122932 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'hybrid intrusion detection system using threshold-based and machine learning techniques.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. S Sreethar; Ayush Pal; Parantap Jesalpura; and Abhishek Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a hybrid intrusion detection system for network security. The system includes a data preprocessing module configured to receive network traffic data and perform normalization and feature selection operations on the network traffic data to generate preprocessed data. A threshold-based detection module is configured to apply predefined threshold values to specific network traffic features in the preprocessed data to identify potential security threats based on volume-based attack patterns. A machine learning module includes at least one machine learning classifier configured to analyze the preprocessed data and classify network traffic as normal or malicious using trained machine learning models. An integration module is configured to combine outputs from the threshold-based detection module and the machine learning module to generate a final intrusion detection result."
