MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122799 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'hybrid quantum-classical neural network system for image classification.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nalini N; and Mr. Dhenuvakonda Sai Naveen.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a hybrid quantum-classical neural network system for image classification. The system includes a data preprocessing module configured to convert image data into a quantum-compatible format through dimensionality reduction and normalization operations, a classical convolutional neural network component having convolutional layers with activation functions and pooling operations for feature extraction from the image data, a quantum processing component having at least one parameterized quantum circuit configured to process features through quantum state encoding using rotation gates, wherein the parameterized quantum circuit includes variational layers with trainable quantum parameters and entangling gates for generating quantum correlations between qubits, a hybrid integration module configured to combine outputs from the classical convolutional neural network component and the quantum processing component, and a classification module configured to generate class predictions for multi-class image classification based on the combined classical and quantum features."
