MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547096975 A) filed by Nabaco Inc., San Marcos, U.S.A., on Oct. 8, for 'hydrophobic gas barrier coating.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "There is provided a thixotropic composition that forms a hydrophobic gas barrier coating on the surface of an agricultural product, such as produce, or the surface of packaging materials, such as packaging materials used to package agricultural products, for protecting from dehydration and/or from oxidation, and/or for preventing oxygen ingress and/or water loss through a packaging material. The thixotropic composition comprises a smectite clay, a compatibilizing agent, an oil and/or wax, and a solvent comprising a volatile solvent. Also provided is methods for making the composition, methods for applying the composition to a hydrophobic surface, and uses of the composition."
