MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541125512 A) filed by Coimbatore Institue Of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 12, 2025, for 'hyperledger fabric-enabled product authentication ecosystem with integrated supply chain traceability and consumer verification mechanism.'

Inventor(s) include Dr S P Abirami; Dr. G. Karthikeyan; Lohit Ragavendra N; Sanjay SM; Varshan Raj M C R; Varsith R; and Varunesh R A.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes a Hyperledger Fabric-enabled product authentication ecosystem designed to combat counterfeit products and enhance supply chain integrity. By leveraging permissioned blockchain technology, the ecosystem meticulously records the entire lifecycle of products on a distributed ledger maintained by a Hyperledger Fabric network infrastructure with peer nodes comprising computing devices. A product digital identity module generates unique identifiers encoded in QR codes physically affixed to products using printing hardware. A chaincode layer comprising smart contracts automates product registration, ownership transfers with geolocation from GPS-enabled devices and environmental data from IoT sensors, verification, and compliance checks. A consumer verification interface with mobile application and QR code scanner module utilizing device camera hardware enables consumers to authenticate products at the point of purchase. A private data collection module provides enterprise-grade privacy through selective data disclosure. The ecosystem revolutionizes supply chain management by eliminating counterfeit products and fostering trust, accountability, and operational excellence through comprehensive hardware-software integration."
