MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517058610 A) filed by Google Llc, Mountain View, U.S.A., on June 18, for 'identifying and predicting trending applications.'

Inventor(s) include Zhou, Zilu; Li, Dinglong; and Chia, Bruce Ban Herm.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computing system determines, for each time period from a plurality of time periods, a trending metric for an application available through an application marketplace. The computing system determines whether the trending metric for a final period of the plurality of time periods is greater than the trending metric for an initial period of the plurality of time periods by an amount satisfying a first significance level. The computing system classifies the application as trending in response to determining that the trending metric for the final period is greater than the trending metric for the initial period by the amount satisfying the first significance level. The computing system displays the application as trending in the application marketplace m response to classifying the application as trending."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 11, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/011290.
