MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122922 A) filed by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'industrial-grade esp32-based programmable logic controller with protected multi-voltage i/o architecture.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Arun. C. A; Dr. Sahaya Sheela. M; Dr. G. R. Kangachidambaresan; Salipindi Venkata Avinash; Adisetti Harini; Suddapalli Harish; Tunuguntla Sesha Raghu Ram; and M Tarun Aditya.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an industrial-grade programmable logic controller (PLC) based on an ESP32 microcontroller and designed to provide a low cost alternative to commercial PLC systems. The controller integrates isolated multi-voltage digital inputs, conditioned 0-10 V analog inputs, and protected high-current digital outputs driven through Darlington transistor arrays and relay modules. A multi-stage regulated power system accepts wide-range industrial DC supply inputs and delivers stable, noise-immune voltage rails for the microcontroller, analog circuitry, and output stages. The system executes IEC 61131-3 programming languages, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text, with deterministic scan cycle behavior. Built-in Wi-Fi, Modbus, and MQTT communication enable real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and integration into IoT and Industry 4.0 environments. The controller is housed within an IP65 enclosure, providing protection for field deployment. The integrated architecture delivers industrial reliability and functionality at substantially reduced cost compared to conventional PLCs."
