MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611010334 A) filed by Mangalayatan University; Dinesh Kumar Sharma; and Dr. Soni Singh, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 31, for 'integrated reverse osmosis and bioremediation system for treatment and reuse of ro reject stream.'
Inventor(s) include Dinesh Kumar Sharma; Dr. Soni Singh; Dr. Love Kumar; Prof. Rakesh Kumar Sharma; Dr. Rojalini Samanta; and Prof. Dr. Vikas Pandey.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an integrated reverse osmosis and bioremediation water treatment system (100). The system comprises a raw water source (1), a pre-treatment unit (2), a high-pressure pump (3), and an RO membrane unit (4) configured to produce purified permeate and an RO reject stream (6). The purified permeate is collected in a permeate storage tank (5). At least a portion of the RO reject stream (6) is routed as a reject stream (7) to a bioremediation unit employing one or more biological processes including microbial consortia, biofilms, algae, and/or constructed wetland mechanisms to reduce pollutant load and improve environmental compatibility. Treated reject water is supplied to a reuse and safe discharge unit (8) for non-potable reuse applications and/or safe discharge. The invention reduces waste discharge, supports circular water management, and promotes sustainable operation of RO-based purification."
