MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126803 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 15, 2025, for 'intelligent weather adaptive retractable canopy system for two-wheeler riders.'
Inventor(s) include Mamta.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a smart adaptive rain and wind protection system for two-wheelers designed to safeguard riders during sudden rainfall and windy conditions. The system integrates an aerodynamic retractable canopy, collapsible side shields, rain and wind sensors, a motorized actuator, and a microcontroller-based control unit. Upon rainfall detection, the control unit processes environmental data to determine a safe deployment mode: full deployment under low wind, partial deployment under moderate wind, and non-deployment under high wind conditions. An emergency backup wearable stored beneath the seat is provided for situations where canopy deployment is unsafe. Continuous monitoring enables automatic retraction under hazardous conditions. The system enhances safety, visibility, and comfort over existing umbrella-type or rigid canopy solutions, offering adaptability, stability, and ease of use."
