MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123025 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'iot-based home automation system with machine learning energy optimization.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides an IoT-based home automation system including an ESP8266 microcontroller (1) configured for wireless communication via Wi-Fi connectivity, a plurality of relay modules operatively connected to the ESP8266 microcontroller (1) and configured to control electrical power supply to household appliances, power monitoring means for measuring real-time energy consumption of the household appliances, a cloud platform including a machine learning engine configured to analyze energy consumption patterns from the power monitoring means and automatically optimize appliance operation based on learned user behavior patterns, and a user interface for remote monitoring and control of the household appliances. The ESP8266 microcontroller (1) receives control commands from the user interface and transmits corresponding control signals to the relay modules to control the household appliances based on optimization decisions from the machine learning engine."
