MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531130346 A) filed by Asansol Engineering College, Asansol, West Bengal, on Dec. 22, 2025, for 'iot-based smart anti-theft surveillance system for rural fish ponds.'
Inventor(s) include Shibsankar Bala; Monish Chatterjee; and Pranabes Gangapadhyay.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention discloses a low-cost, IoT-based intelligent anti-theft surveillance system primarily designed for the reliable protection of rural fish ponds. The system incorporates a night-vision camera and an edge AI-processing unit for continuous night-time human detection. Its defining feature is a multi-stage human intrusion verification mechanism that critically validates detected objects (via object recognition, positional validation, and persistence checks) before initiating an alert. This unique method of triggering a smart siren only after confirmed intrusion significantly reduces false alarms that plague conventional surveillance systems. The integrated system further transmits real-time alerts to the pond owner using various communication protocols (e.g., GSM/Wi-Fi/LoRa), ensuring rapid response and enhanced security for village aquaculture."
