MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517094033 A) filed by Cilag Gmbh International, Zug, Switzerland, on Sept. 30, for 'knife designs for end effectors used in surgical tools.'
Inventor(s) include Fischer, Austin Michael; Zhang, Guowei John; Kolpitcke, Andrew; Hsu, Wei-Liang; and Chiang, Pei-Lieh.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A surgical tool includes a drive housing having opposing distal and proximal ends, first and second drive cable capstans arranged within the drive housing and asymmetrically aligned between the distal and proximal ends, a first drive cable extending distally from the drive housing and actuatable by operation of the first drive cable capstan, and a second drive cable extending distally from the drive housing and actuatable by operation of the second drive cable capstan. A stiffness of the first and second drive cables is equalized by adjusting one or more characteristics of one or both of the first and second drive cables."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 04, 2024, under International application No.PCT/IB2024/052059.
