MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003684 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 18, 2024, for 'luggage management system for public transport vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A luggage management system for public transport vehicle, comprising a body 1 installed on roof of public transport vehicle and segregated into multiple compartments 2 to accommodate luggage of passengers, a platform 3 installed at a rear portion of vehicle and configured with plate 4 to be accommodated within compartments 2, a QR (Quick Response) code, wherein user is required to scan QR code via an electronic payment wallet for paying determined amount, a pair of motorized sliders 6 configured between platform 3 and plate for translating and positioning plate towards roof portion of vehicle, a pair of robotic arms 8 installed at a periphery of body 1 for gripping luggage from plate and positioning luggage in compartments 2 as per user-defined destination location and a motorized door 10 configured with each of compartments 2 to close in view of securing luggage within compartment."
