MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521120732 A) filed by Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, on Dec. 2, 2025, for 'lutein encapsulation through microfluidics formulation and preparation method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Jigisha Parikh; Dr. S. K. Sundar; and Mr. Miraj Savani.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a lutein encapsulation system comprising eutectic phase change material nanoparticles prepared via ultrasonic-assisted microfluidic emulsification. The eutectic PCM composed of stearic acid and lauric acid forms the thermoresponsive shell around lutein, melting at approximately 37 C to release the encapsulated core. The nanoparticles (13-15 nm, 400) exhibit high encapsulation efficiency (94.8 %), thermal stability (500), and diffusion-based release following the Higuchi model (700). The process employs precise microfluidic control (100) and yields a biocompatible, temperature-sensitive delivery system suitable for nutraceutical and dermatological formulations."
