MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441037361 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on May 12, 2024, for 'managing user equipment unavailability in a communication system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments disclosed herein describe a method and apparatus for managing UE unavailability in a communication system. The method includes at a first network apparatus (200), a request message is received from a second network apparatus (300) for UE unavailability information for a plurality of UEs, further, the request message includes a UE identity and a service identity for which the UE (400) has registered to satellite access. The first network apparatus (200) then determines the UE unavailability information based on Satellite Coverage Availability Information (SCAI) and the location of the UE (400). The first network apparatus (200) generates a response message by adding the UE unavailability information and sends the response message to the second network apparatus (300)."
