MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067431 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on July 15, for 'mandrel for electrode assembly and cylindrical battery cell produced using same, and battery pack and vehicle comprising cylindrical battery cell.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed are a mandrel for an electrode assembly, a cylindrical battery cell produced using same, and a battery pack and vehicle comprising the cylindrical battery cell. A mandrel for an electrode assembly, according to one embodiment of the present invention, is a mandrel that has a structure in which an anode, a cathode, and a separator interposed between the anode and the cathode are wound in one direction, and winds a jelly roll-type electrode assembly having a central hole formed in the center thereof, the mandrel comprising: a first winding member that is inserted into the central hole of the electrode assembly; and a second winding member that is inserted into the central hole of the electrode assembly, has a separator interposed between the second winding member and the first winding member, and winds the electrode assembly together with the first winding member, wherein an asymmetry prevention portion may be formed on at least one of the first winding member and the second winding member so as to prevent asymmetry of the electrode assembly."
