MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611008733 A) filed by Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, Gurugram, Haryana, on Jan. 28, for 'medication management device.'

Inventor(s) include Kausheki Deb; Sonam; Neha Verma; and Malini Soman.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A medication management device, comprises of a cylindrical housing 101 mounted on a base 102, a plurality of medication storage compartments 103 to store pills and syrups, a touchscreen display 104 enables a user to provide input related to medication schedule, dosage, medical conditions, a dispensing unit to selectively dispense stored medication, an iris aperture 105 to selectively open/close for dispensing medicine, a cascade platform 106 to extend outward during dispensing of medicine and retract after medication retrieval, an imaging unit 107 to capture high-resolution images of dispensed medication and confirm consumption by the user, a crushing unit to receive pills via dedicated channels for converting pills into powder for administration as required, a vacuum hose 111 and pump with the crushing unit, to transfer crushed medication hygienically to a user and a speaker 113 to provide audio guidance and alerts to the user regarding medication schedules."
