MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517081209 A) filed by Bite-Finder Ag., Liestal, Switzerland, on Aug. 27, for 'method and analysis system for creating a digital 3d model of the dentition of a patient.'

Inventor(s) include Zauner, Bjorn; Zauner, Mike; and Hofmann, Markus.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for creating a digital 3D model of the dentition of a patient. According to the invention, for a plurality of dentition variants, each comprising a combination of a digital 3D model of the upper jaw with a digital 3D model of the lower jaw of the patient, the 3D models differing from each other in the relative positioning of the upper and lower jaws, each of the following steps is carried out in a computing unit: - the digital 3D model of the upper jaw is combined with the digital 3D model of the lower jaw of the patient in such a way that the upper and lower jaws are in contact with each other at a number of contact points without any spatial overlap of sections of the upper and lower jaws, and - the contact surface between the upper jaw and lower jaw is determined, an optimised dentition variant being selected as a 3D model of the dentition taking into account said contact surface."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 06, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/052935.
