MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517050155 A) filed by Envision Energy Technology Pte Ltd., Singapore, on May 26, for 'method and apparatus for estimating soh of series-connected cells, and machine-readable storage medium.'

Inventor(s) include Gao, Wenkai; Xu, Zhonghua; Yang, Yang; Qian, Zhenhua; and Shi, Jinghui.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An SOH estimation method for series-connected battery cells, an apparatus, and a machine-readable storage medium, which are used for SOH estimation for each series-connected battery cell in a battery pack. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring current and voltage data during charging and discharging of each mutually series-connected battery cell in a battery pack (S1); calculating a difference value between a reference charge termination voltage and a charge termination voltage of each battery cell according to the current and voltage data of each battery cell, and consequently calculating the remaining amount that each battery cell can be charged; calculating a difference value between a reference discharge termination voltage and a discharge termination voltage of each battery cell, and consequently calculating the remaining amount that each battery cell can be discharged (S2); and calculating the actual capacity of each battery cell according to the remaining amounts that each battery cell can be charged and discharged, thereby assessing the SOH of each battery cell (S3). The states of health of all the battery cells can be obtained according to the current state of the battery pack, and the present invention has advantages such as having a wide application range."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 13, 2023, under International application No.PCT/CN2023/138535.
