MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517065564 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on July 9, for 'method and apparatus for relocating server that serves application in wireless communication system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate than a 4G communication system such as LTE. Particularly, a method performed by a target base station in a wireless communication system, according to various embodiments of the present disclosure, comprises the steps of: receiving a handover request message from a source base station; on the basis of the handover request message, determining, as a candidate for a target computing function (CF), a CF identified by a data network access identifier (DNAI) associated with a target base station; from among candidates for the target CF, determining, as a target CF, a candidate for the target CF corresponding to each data network (DN) related to distributed processing of relocation of an application of a UE performing a handover; and transmitting, to the source base station, a handover request ACK message including information regarding the determined target CF, wherein the target CF may connect a network to an application server that serves the application of the UE performing the handover."
